About Alte Kalköfen Lodge:
Alte Kalköfen Lodge is named after two historic lime ovens built between the 1800s and 1910 on nearby farms Sandverhaar and Simplon. Alte Kalköfen Lodge is a restored farmhouse situated in a natural desert garden surrounded by desert savannah and boasts the Namibia’s largest registered collection of the succulent species Lithops (Cole Lithoparium). The lodge’s “Sundowner Ecke” and “Reading Corner” are guest favourites and ensure an enjoyable stay. Guests can also keep their ears open for the bi-weekly passing train, an intriguing reminder of Namibia’s trade route history.
